Fussings and Frettings

The real problem of the Christian life comes where people do not usually look for it. It comes the very moment you wake up each morning. All your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals. And the first job each morning consists simply in shoving them all back; in listening to that other voice, taking that other point of view, letting that other larger, stronger, quieter life come flowing in. And so on, all day. Standing back from all your natural fussings and frettings; coming in out of the wind.

― C.S. LewisMere Christianity

Many mornings i wake with a busy mind, often a heavy heart if there is concern woven into the fabric of  MY thoughts.  What a sweet sip of cool water this morning to be reminded that it is really just a matter of pushing all of my thoughts, wishes, dreams, agendas, hopes and fears away, making room for HIS larger calmer plan to fill my heart, soul and mind.

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.  1 John 2:15-17
